ENGHISH COURSE – FOCUS ON CONVERSATION
Senaso, our multi cultural centre will be organising an English course focused especially on conversation. Students will be encouraged to relate their experiences and get to know each other.
The class will include people of different nationalities, who will discover how English can become a common language shared by those who travel across the world in search of new opportunities. The course will feature encounters with guests who have travelled from Africa to Europe overcoming great difficulties to finally find a new homeland. Part of the encounters will of course be devoted to a live debate. During the 15 lessons – each lasting one and a half hours –discussion topics shall also be established, so as to have a starting point leading conversation both towards the past, with personal memories, and towards the future, looking at opportunities newly acquired language skills may open up. Expect topics such as work, travel, art, food, and insights into English, American and Italian culture, as well as that of African and Asian countries. As the course progresses, it will become more challenging and interactive, and come to include newspaper articles from different countries, music, videos and audiobooks, offering a multi disciplinary and truly international approach. One of the most important goals of the project is to help and support people fleeing from conflicts or impoverished countries. Accordingly Senaso will be giving two students a scholarship to attend the course free of charge. Prices for the other students will be kept to a minimum – enough to make the course feasible. At the end of the course students will be asked to appear in a short video, introduce themselves and give their opinion about the class. As always with Senaso, the atmosphere will be friendly and welcoming. In keeping with the belief that there can be no learning without fun and enjoyment, we guarantee our lessons will never be boring. Thank you for your consideration, and hopefully for your enthusiastic response.
